Choose a destination base around the itinerary

The right area depends on the trip. Heritage sightseeing, an airport connection, hospital visit, business meeting and trekking departure each create different location priorities. Mark the places you must reach, likely travel times and your arrival hour before comparing hotels in Nepal by a broad city-center label.

Ask for the exact map pin and route to the entrance. Road access, slopes, stairs, construction and late-night transport can change what is practical, especially with luggage, children or limited mobility. A property near an attraction on a map may still be a poor base for the rest of your itinerary.

Define the room before comparing rates

Room names are not standardized. Confirm bed type and count, maximum occupancy, bathroom arrangement, floor, lift access, heating or cooling, hot water and backup power details relevant to the stay. Ask whether the displayed photographs show the room category available for your dates.

If a view, balcony, workspace, connecting room, quiet orientation or accessible bathroom is essential, request written confirmation. A preference noted on a booking is different from a guaranteed feature. Families should confirm child occupancy, bedding and meal terms before entering guest details or paying.

Calculate the complete cost for the same stay

Compare the same dates, guest count, room, meals and cancellation conditions. Check taxes, service charges, extra beds, transfers, parking and other requested services. A low headline figure may exclude items another rate includes, so it is not automatically the least expensive equivalent.

Ask which currency is used, when payment is due and whether a card, transfer or platform charge applies. Verify the payment recipient through a trusted property or booking channel and keep a receipt. Be cautious when an unexpected message changes the deposit account or pressures you to pay outside the documented process.

Check access, sleep and essential operations

If anyone has an access requirement, describe it specifically and ask about the route from vehicle drop-off to reception, room and bathroom. Request current photographs where useful. A lift symbol or the word accessible does not explain door widths, steps, gradients or how the property responds during a power interruption.

For sleep, ask about road, event, restaurant, construction and generator noise near the offered room. Confirm reception coverage, luggage storage, late arrival and emergency exit information. These questions do not guarantee a perfect stay, but a specific answer is more useful than a long generic amenity list.

Read change and cancellation rules line by line

Record the local deadline for a penalty-free cancellation, the amount retained later, no-show terms and whether date changes are allowed. A booking platform may have different conditions from a direct reservation. Save the policy shown when paying because a general page can be updated after your booking.

Decide whether a restricted rate saves enough to justify the risk. Ask how late check-in and transport disruption are handled, but do not assume an exception. Suitable travel insurance, where available, is separate from the hotel's obligation and should be assessed against the trip and policy wording.

Keep a complete arrival confirmation

The final record should show property and contact, guest name, dates, room and bed type, guest count, inclusions, total terms, amount paid, balance and essential arrangements. Save it offline with the map pin and a working arrival-day number. Ask for a correction if any part differs from the agreement.

Reconfirm shortly before travel when you need pickup, late arrival, accessible access or another critical arrangement. Directory pages are useful for discovering and comparing properties, but only the property or booking provider can confirm current inventory and the contract for a particular stay.
